BIOGRAPHY
Governor Ted Strickland appointed Judge Frances McGee to the
Common Pleas Court in 2007. She is Chair of the Judicial Criminal
Practice Committee and serves on the Judicial Appointments,
Jury Management and Security Committees.
Judge McGee received her B.A. from Howard University and her
J.D. from the Ohio State University College of Law.
She brings to the table 24 years of experience as a Montgomery
County Prosecutor. As a career prosecutor, she served in the
Intake, Juvenile, Criminal, Civil and Criminal Non Support Divisions.
She prosecuted all types of crimes including high profile homicide,
rape, drug and theft cases. She has tried more than 100 jury
trials.
Judge McGee is a certified instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer
Training Academy and is an instructor for the Corrections Academy
located at Sinclair Community College. She has also served as
an instructor for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Academy.
Judge McGee is a life member of the Girl Scouts of Buckeye
Trails Council, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and St. Margaret’s
Episcopal Church. She is active in the community with her involvement
in the Dayton Urban League, the Ohio Supreme Court’s Gender
Fairness Committee, the Black Leadership Development Program,
the Legal Aid Society and the Southern Ohio Lay Leadership Initiative.
Judge McGee has been honored as the Thurgood Marshall Law
Society’s Outstanding Women of the Year, the Miami Valley
Association of Women Attorney’s Outstanding Service Award
and was inducted into the Girls Scouts of Buckeye Trails Hall
of Fame in 2006.
